Tzaneen Picnic Spots

Cheerio Gardens:
Take the Cheerio turnoff from the R71, 4km from Haenertsburg towards Tzaneen. Cheerio Gardens has extensive, beautiful gardens and grounds with walks, a tea garden and picnic and braai facilities.



Dap Naude Dam:
Take the access road off the R71 to a picturesque site under the oak trees.



Debegeni Falls:
Take the access road off the R71 below Magoebaskloof to picnic sites under shady indigenous trees next to spectacular waterfalls.



Ebenezer Dam:
Access by unmarked gravel road off the R71, 2km from Haenertsburg towards Tzaneen or from the gravel road, marked Ebenezer Dam, which links the R71 and the R528(Georges Valley Road).

Magoebaskloof:
This is a shaded picnic site and a viewpoint for site-seeing, situated next to the R71.



Magoebaskloof Dam:
Situated on turnoff to the Magoebaskloof Dam on the R71, where you can water ski, braai and relax in the sun.



Modjadji Nature Reserve:
This is a picturesque and delightful picnic/braai site for people, with excellent facilities.



Stanford Lake:
Stanford Lake accommodates day visitors and there are campsites on the lakeshore.



Tzaneen Dam Nature Reserve:
The reserve is situated next to the Tzaneen Dam, with access off the R36 at Merensky High School – ideal for day visitors with campsites next to the dam and a boat slipway.

Wegraakbos Dairy:
If you take the Cheerio turnoff from the R71, 4km from Haenertsburg towards Tzaneen, you can picnic on a working dairy farm and see how local cheese is made.
